Shelia Leona Batts Patton was born on May 14, 1954 to Argather B. Leslie and the late John Ira Rankins Jr. in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She was a native of Bedford County Tennessee and transitioned to be with the Lord to a peaceful place on December 07, 2020.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her mother in law, Laura Mae Patton Williams; maternal grandparents, John Henry and Ethel Seay Batts; paternal grandparents, John Ira Sr. and Izora Rankins; grandson, Kendrick Patton; brother, Gary Rankins; and other dear relatives. Shelia Leona graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1973. She worked for Tyson Foods for ten plus years. Shelia loved family and friend time, cooking, crocheting, writing and reading poetry, dancing, playing cards, board games, flowers and nature but most of all she enjoyed singing, and praising the Lord.

She could often be heard singing some of her favorite songs: I'm A Soldier, Victory Victory Shall Be Mine, Over My Head I Hear Music, Already Been To The Water, I Won't Complain and Going Up Yonder, just to name a few. She was a loyal member of the Destiny Social Sisters where she served joyfully as secretary. She has sung with several choirs, Rockvale Original Church of God in Rockvale, Tennessee, The Haley Church of God Sanctified in Shelbyville, Tennessee and The Holiness Mass Choir from the combined districts.

She accepted Christ at an early age at The Rockvale Original Church of God and later moved her membership to The Haley Church of God Sanctified where she was a devoted and faithful member. Always giving a helping hand where needed. She will always be remembered for her warm smile, loving personality, loyalty, peacemaking skills, compassion, powerful voice, sense of humor and a powerful left hook.

Shelia leaves to cherish her loving memory: a devoted and loving husband, Everette Reid Patton; two devoted and amazing sons, Everette Eukenta Patton and Quayvion Rakeem Patton both of Shelbyville, Tennessee; beloved grandchildren, Jaleiona Marie Patton, Everette Leeonta Patton, Kentoria L.
