Mr. John W. Clarke Jr., was born August 31, 1941 to the late John W. Clarke Sr. and Edna R. Clarke Beasley.

Affectionately known as "Clarke, Jackie or Johnny Cake" he was preceded in death by a sister, JoAnn Clarke Fondren. Clarke served our country for 20 years in the United States Army.

Shortly after his service retirement in 1978, he worked as Head Dietician for the Department of Correction in Columbia, South Carolina.

After working for the DOC for many years, he worked at Providence Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina as a Master Chef from which he retired. "Johnny Cake" loved to cook. He taught many family' and friends his art of "how to" with pleasure and joy.

Prior to moving to Murfreesboro, Tennessee in 2017, Clarke and Helen attended "The Potters House" in Columbia, South Carolina under the leadership of Pastor Greg Fortney, "Clarke/Jackie" leaves to mourn: his wife, Helen W. Clarke; son, John W. Smith (3daughters an- on ofD ham, North Carolina; daughters, Sheila F. Street (So omen Sna:wn IT'hompson Jr.) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Lolita Clarke Patterson (husband and 2 sons) of Columbia, South Carolina; two adoptive daughters, Keisha Gallman (two sons) of Columbia, South Carolina and LaTosha Robinson Jones (husband, 1 son and 1 daughter); three sisters, Nancy Clarke (Lester) McKeever of Chicago, Illinois, Loretta Clarke Moore of Chicago, Illinois and Lori Clarke ("Tree" Eric) Roundtree of Newark New Jersey; one brother, Richard Clarke of Chicago, Illinois; and brother-in-law, Mr. Robert "Bobby" (Betty) Washington of Columbia, South Carolina. "Clarke, Johnny Cake, Jackie" was blessed with a host of other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.


In efforts to be in compliance with the regulations of the CDC guidelines, mask are required upon entry of the building and temperatures will be checked at the door. This is for the safety of our community as well as our funeral home staff.
