Obituary:
Jesse Lee Walker was born on July 11, 1932 in Midway (Bullock County), Alabama to Epenial Pendleton "Chair" and Ruby Davis Walker. Jesse was the oldest of eight children. He accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Coney Baptist Church in Midway, Alabama.

Jesse graduated from Merritt High School in 1950. Immediately following graduation, Jesse enlisted in the United States Army. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and was a member of the 101st Airborne Division of Artillery prior to retiring after 23 years of service.

Upon retiring from the Army, Jesse made his home in Nashville, Tennessee and began working security for Big K stores. This is where he would meet his wife of 44 years, Gloria Ward Walker. Jesse and Gloria relocated to Murfreesboro, Tennessee in 1976 where Jesse started his career at Middle Tennessee State University with ARA (now Aramark) Food Services. After 16 years of service with Aramark, he retired in 1992. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, Epenial Pendleton "Chair" and Ruby Davis Walker; brothers, Edgar Lee "Punch" Walker and Willie Andrew "Mann" Walker; sisters, Cora Lee "Bent" Grier and Willie Mae Walker; and son, Jesse Lee Walker Jr.

He leaves to cherish and honor his memory, his loving wife, Gloria; three children: daughters, Mecherrie (Willie) Owens of Union Springs, Alabama, Sabrena Scott of Atlanta, Georgia, and son, Hiawatha (RaShonda) Walker of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; sisters, Annie Pearl Roberts of Hartford, Connecticut, Stella Walker of Hartford, Connecticut and Lucille Morrison of Manchester, Connecticut; grandchildren, Keqiwanda Owens, Kewonder Owens and Ava Walker; six great- grandchildren; devoted brothers and sisters - in - law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
