Obituary:
Mrs. Macey Louise Smart, daughter of the late Johnny B. and Katherine V. Richardson was born on October 8,1939 in Smyrna, TN. She departed this life on July 2,2010 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. She was the oldest daughter of seven children. She attended Rosenwald School, Smyrna, TN and graduated from Holloway High School in Murfreesboro, TN. Mrs. Macey Smart pursued a college degree in Nursing at Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Dennis Smart in 1962.

She worked at Central State Hospital (now Middle Tennessee Mental Health Center) and Atlanta Life Insurance. She received her cosmetology license from Miami School in Nashville and worked at Ben's Barber & Beauty Shop. She was a member of the Murfreesboro Hairdresser Chapter # 7. She later was employed with Greer Nut Company until she retired in 1991. She was also involved in several social activities. She received Christ at an early age and sang in the choir at Elder's Chapel United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women. Macey was an avid bowler and loved to share her stories about her bowling events.

Mrs. Macey L. Smart leaves behind a devoted family to cherish her loving memories. Her loving and caring children, Wendell L. Newman, Sr., Penelope R. Smart, Carrietta A. Smart, Mechelle D. Smart, all of Smyrna, TN and Dennis T. (Debra) Smart of Antioch, TN; five grandchildren, Cortney A. Smart, Keiyanna D. Smart, Nicholas R. Smart, Wendell L. Newman, Jr. Naiah A.L. Smart; three sisters, Betty (Alton) Ethridge of Victorville, CA, Shirley Mitchell and Gwyn (William) Daniel, both of Smyrna, TN; three brothers, John (Mildred) Richardson of Smyrna, TN, Kenneth (Demetrius) Richardson of Smyrna, TN, Donald (Sonja) Richardson of Gallatin, TN; three sisters-in-law, Bertha Dockett of Atlanta, GA, Claretha Vicks of Camilla, GA, Allene Smart of Strafford, CT; one brother-in-law, Sampson Bell of Cairo, GA, two aunts, Juanita (Robert) Tabor and Barbara Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
