Mamie Edith Woods was born to Elbridge Nelson and Noble Woods on October 7, 1946. She was the youngest of four Children.

She attended Booker T. Washington High School in Memphis, Tennessee, graduating in 1964. Being an avid sports fan, Mamie loved to recruit children to play football, basketball, and run track for Booker T. Washington High School; even her son who also played sports graduated from BTW.

But her most important joy was being a mother to the true love of her life, Brandon. She had a very special affection for her only born child.

Travelling was also a great pleasure of hers. Mamie has lived in Dover, Delaware, from there Chicago, Illinois, and returning back to her roots, Memphis, Tennessee.

Mamie was a great singer who was known for writing her very own version of the Happy Birthday song she would sing on birthdays.

Mamie was employed for several years as a customer service representative at Goodwill Industries.
