Obituary:
Darius Semáj Coffey was born on February 23, 1992 to Kimberly McAdams Vaughter and Paul Gene Coffey. Darius transitioned from this earthly life on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at his home.

Darius accepted Christ at age five and was baptized at First Baptist Church. He attended Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and sang with the Children’s Choir.

Darius was educated in the Murfreesboro City and Rutherford County School Systems, graduating from Oakland High School in 2010. He was a student athlete, most notably a member of the 2008 state football championship team. His talent and tenacity on the football field earned him several distingushed awards and recognitions – 2008 offensive lineman of the year, 2008-2009 all-district team, 2009 all-state team, East-West All-star Team, two-time Tennessee Titan Player of the Week, and 2009 Rugby State Championship. Darius also was a member of the Oakland Track and Field Team for four years.

Darius also attended college at Lindsey Wilson in Columbia, Kentucky.
Darius, also known as “DJ Coffey”, loved music, sports, the Tennessee Titans, shooting pool, grilling and being around people – family, friends, and strangers who would soon become friends.

Darius was preceded in death by his loving grandmothers, Earline Gray and Easter Coffey; grandfather, James McAdams Jr.; great-grandparents, Fannie McAdams, Clifford and Hattie Martin, Fred and Lily Mae Glenn, James Henry and Ida Coffey, Raymond Frazier, Mary Vaughter and Grant Daniels; aunts, Tonia Turner and Lela Coffey; and uncle, Fred Coffey.

Loving memories of Darius will always be cherished by his loving and devoted mother, Kimberly (Deron) Vaughter; father Paul (April) Coffey; grandfathers, James Coffey, Sr. and Henry Knox; grandmothers, Marie McAdams and Bonnie Vaughter; great-grandfather, James McAdams, Sr.; great-grandmothers, Stella Daniels and Ida B. Frazier; brothers, Calvin Blair, Bryan Thompson, Daequan Coffey, Deizmond Coffey and De’Marius Coffey; sister, Ameria Blair; uncles, Vincent (Monica) Gray and James Coffey Jr.; aunts, Tywanta (Robert) Martin, Dorothea Coffey, Melissa Coffey, LaTashia Mathews-Johnson and Dr. Nicole Knox; first cousins, Shelby Gray, Cameron Turner, Danielle Turner, Annique Robertson, Chase Johnson, Jermayne Scott, Lamar Coffey, Renea Coffey, Deanna Coffey, Marquise Coffey, TyKerion Coffey, Jawon Smith and Ashle’ Montgomery; godmother, Sallee Joseph; godchildren, Zyanna, Zachery, Dawson, and Kingston Barnes; many other relatives and friends.
