Castle Street, Murfreesboro, TN Obituary: Elbert Lavern "Vern" Robertson, was born on November 18, 1951 in Carbondale, IL to Vernell Edward and Mary Frances Robertson. He departed this life at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at his home in Murfreesboro, TN.
He attended Carbondale High School and went on to attend West Kentucky Vocational School, where he received his diplomas in carpentry and masonry. He was a member of Local 13 Painters Union in Bloomington, IL and an apprentice latherer in Carbondale, IL.
On August 13, 1970, "Vern" married Lue Cressie Johnson and to this union, God blessed them with one son, Vernon Keith.
"Vern" worked most of his life as an independent contractor. He was an accomplished carpenter, skilled painter, jack-of-all-trades and master of all. He was multi-talented with a gifted desire to help anyone who asked for help. He was known by his many nieces and nephews as "Unc" and "Paw Paw" to his grandchildren.
"Vern" didn't have an enemy because he was so outgoing and friendly. He loved his God-given mate, Lue Cressie and valued the time they had together. "Vern" was more than just a dad; he was an extended father to Candice Wilkes, Jerry Johnson, Tina Morris-Gross and Jacqueline Scott. He was a child of God in his own unique way. He accepted Christ and fully came to the understanding of the true meaning later in his "Christian Walk".
