Anna Lee Scales Johnson

As sweet as pie, as kind as an angel, as poised as a model; the sweet Anna Lee Scales Johnson was born on October 17, 1934 to the late Joe Abb Scales and Ava Starnes in Bedford County, Tennessee. She transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on February 18,2017 peacefully in her sleep.

Anna Lee attended Bedford County Training School and served as a Registered Nurse at the New Rochelle Hospital and United Hebrew Home in New Rochelle, New York. Besides being a professional caretaker she was a self-taught seamstress, upholsterer, chef, interior designer and a jill-of-all-trades diy specialist.

She had many joys in life, including her daschund Peaches, spending time with family and receiving the Shelbyville Times Gazette every Sunday when she lived in New York. After retiring she moved back to Shelbyville, Tennessee where she lived her passion of decorating, hosting and being a gift to all she encountered especially her daughter and granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Terri Johnson Malloy; sisters and brothers, Jabbo, William J. Coleman, J.D. Coleman, E.B. Coleman, James Coleman, George Scales Sr., Thomas Houston Scales, Robert Scales, John, William Scales, Joe Frank Scales, Mattie Coleman, Beulah Peacock, Eula D. Green, Irene Lyons and Christine Green; two sisters- in-law, Alberta Peterson and Dorothy Marie Kincherlow.

She leaves behind her cherished granddaughter, Tatiana Rose Johnson "Tot"; sister, Addie B. Caruthers; two sisters-in-law, Ida Blake of Tullahoma, Tennessee and Callie Kincherlow of Huntland, Tennessee; brother-in-law, Bobby Joe Johnson of Mt. Vernon, New York; a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, friends and honorary grandchildren, Antonio M. Malloy, Anna Marie Sneed, Lessie Lacy, Lindsay Vanderberg, Ciera Washington, Jaielle Richardson, Breanna Smith, Rickema Epps, Chardonne Dixon, Jasmine Anderson, Lauren Dixon, Tyrone Miller and Asia Muhammad.

If I could put the word LOVE in every language to form one word it would still be an understatement of how much 1 love you. I'm so grateful for your love, kindness, compassion and selflessness throughout your life towards me. You inspired me to keep going when I thought I didn't have it in me, you challenged me in ways that made me grow. Thank you for blessing me with my Mama and thanks for making me your baby and being mine forever.

I LOVE YOU GAM! ~ Your Favorite, Tot
