Beulah Mae Benford was born July 25, 1924 to the late Louis Jenkins and Jesse Youngblood Jenkins in Nashville Tennessee. "Brumai" stayed with her aunts Florence and Inez in her early years. "Bru-Che" departed this life at the young age of 92 on August 20, 2016 at Parkway Rehab Nursing Center after a long illness in Louisville, Kentucky.

Beulah accepted Christ at an early age and was a dedicated member of Webb Grove A.M.E. Church until she moved to Louisville to be with her family. In church she served as a stewardess, class leader, steward, choir member and treasurer of the Women's Auxiliary.

Beulah was employed at Chromalox for many years, then she worked 22 years at Procon where she retired in 1994. She was an avid baker. Family and friends were fond of her yellow cake with caramel icing. She enjoyed traveling, sewing and doing arts & crafts which included many ceramics. She loved being a member of the Hancock Street Block Club.

Beulah was preceded in death by her husband, Mark H. Benford Jr. of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; her sister, Fannie M. Benford of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and her brother, Calvin E. Caruthers of Nashville, Tennessee.

She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Robert N. Benford (Ethelene); grandchildren, Felicia D. Benford and Marcus LN. Benford all of Louisville, Kentucky; nieces and nephews, Carol Caruthers-Fields, Calvin Caruthers and Donald Caruthers of Nashville, Tennessee; devoted cousins, Annie Batten, Margery Frasier and Willie MaiAvent of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; brothers- in-law, Clarence (Barbara) Binford of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Jimmy (JoAnne) Henderson of Louisville, Kentucky and Joe Willie (Margaret) Benford of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; sister-in- law, Marie Butler; a host of other beloved relatives and friends.
