Houston Smith Overton Jr. was born November 18, 1954 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to the late Houston Smith Overton Sr. and Ella Jane Brandon Overton. He transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the young age of 61 at St Thomas Rutherford.

He was educated in the Rutherford County School Systems.

Houston was an Air Force Veteran and a retired Maintenance Technician for Nissan USA.

He came to the Lord at an early age. He was a faithful member of Olive Branch Church where he served on the Greeting Ministry and Security team. He was one who never met a stranger, always had a smile and an encouraging word to share. He had a zest for life and loved the Lord, family, water sports, boating, motorcycle
riding, as well as music where he played the bass and saxophone, one of his favorite past times. He loved to travel, enjoyed fine dining and History, where he was a re-enactor with the 13th United States Colored Troops of Murfreesboro.

Houston leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of27 years, Mary L. Johnson Overton; children, Tasha Overton of Nashville, Rochelle Adams of Shelbyville and Lincoln (Vivian) Adams of Murfreesboro; brother, Timothy (Diane) Overton of Murfreesboro;seven grandchildren, Camille Overton, Ashley Marsh, Alex
Adams, Marquee Bell, Keith Harris, Taylor Harris and Kennedy Adams; three great grandchildren, Ashdon Kephart, Bailey Bell and Snow Bell; devoted niece, Janina Overton (Reynaldo) Hill; devoted friends, Norm and Helen Hill; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The tears in my eyes I can wipe away,
but the ache in my heart will always stay.
Loving you now, always, forever, and a day ...
