Myrtle Geraldine Johnson was born on February 24,1934 in Gaffney, South Carolina to the union of Walter and Ellen Rawlinson. She was the oldest of
four children and the only daughter.

At a young age Myrtle accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was very active in church. As a teenager she sang in a Christian vocalist group and performed in churches around South Carolina. Myrtle spent her younger years being raised by her maternal grandmother in South Carolina.

Myrtle was the wife of Robert "Bobby" Lee Johnson her third husband, Milledge "Jackie" Staley her first husband and Otis Holmes her second husband.

At the age of seventeen, one week shy of graduating high school, Myrtle met and married Master Sergeant Milledge "Jackie" Staley. Marrying an Air Force Sergeant allowed Myrtle to live in several different states and Puerto Rico. Four children were born to this union, Jacqueline, Juana Vanessa, Janice, and Milledge Jr. "Jay".

To the union of Myrtle and Otis Holmes two sons were born, Michael and Raymond "Pete" Holmes.

Her union to Robert Johnson she became the step-mother to Gloria Jean, Delanna Sandra, Robert Jr., and Kenneth.

Myrtle enjoyed cooking and entertaining her family and friends at her home for over forty years in Smyrna, Tennessee. Myrtle loved to dance and listen to many genres of music. Her favorite pastimes included watching Tyler Perry's Madea movies and stage plays and gardening.

Myrtle enjoyed a long career in food service and was employed several years at the Mayfield Rehab Center in Smyrna, Tennessee. She ultimately found the most joy and fulfillment working as a caregiver to the elderly in Rutherford County, Tennessee.

Early Sunday morning of April 3, 2016 our beloved Myrtle departed this life and was called to heaven. She is preceded in death by her three husbands; her parents; daughter, Juana Vanessa; and brothers, Harry and Floyd Rawlinson.

She leaves to cherish her legacy daughters, Jacqueline (Beyonca) of Victorville, California and Janice of Nashville, Tennessee; sons, Jay of San Diego, California, Michael and Pete (Angie); brother, Raymond; stepchildren, Gloria, Delanna, Robert Jr. and Kenneth; eighteen grandchildren; forty-four great-grandchildren; best friend of over forty years, Jean Caphammer; a
host of other family members and close friends.
