Obituary:
Mrs. Elmira J. Howse was born on October 29, 1927 to Julia and Wash Johnson in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Elmira was educated in the public school system of Rutherford County. After a decline in health she departed this earthly life on February 8, 2016.

Elmira met and married John E. Howse on January 5, 1948 and to this union seven children were born.

Elmira was a stay at home mother taking care of her husband, home, and children. Later in life she worked in private homes assisting others with household duties. When she was healthy she enjoyed working out and taking daily walks. She also enjoyed watching many shows on Channel 5 which included, The Young and the Restless with her sister-in-law, Mary Dunston and her deceased brother-in-law, James Dunston, Jr.

Elmira professed a hope and belief in Jesus Christ and united with Mt. Zion Missionary Church and later moved her membership to Cedar Grove Primitive Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, worked in the kitchen ministry, singing in the senior choir and being a part of the cleaning ministry until her
health began to decline.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Julia and Wash Johnson; husband, John Sr.; sisters, Willie James, Anna Woods and Tennie Johnson; brothers, Desimo, Isaac, George, James and Robert Johnson; son, Michael Howse Sr.; grandsons, Brandon and Donnie Howse; great aunt-in-law, Matilda Bond; and many other dear loved ones.

Elmira leaves to cherish and uphold her memory, children, Evelyn, John Jr., Cathy, Thomas, William and Karen; sister, Louiza Johnson; sister-in-laws; Mary Dunston, Gladys (Jesse) Brown and Mildred Johnson; brothers-in-law, Lennard (Iveory), Richard and William Howard Howse; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two
great grandchildren; extended family, Chris and Anthony Scruggs, Margaret Ann Howse, Bessie Howse and Maggie Johnson; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
