Jimmie Lee Woodson was born January 1, 1928 to Abner and Laura Woodson in Laneferry, Missouri. He was the oldest of two sons.
His parents; brother, Abner Jr.; and five children, Theodore, Bernard, Rita, Wardell and Mary Laughvon, preceded him in death.

He accepted Christ at an early age.

He attended school in Ferguson, Missouri, and joined the U.S. Army in 1950 and was honorably discharged in 1952.

Jimmie moved to Detroit, Michigan and worked at General Motors for over 30 years in the Cadillac Division. After retirement he drove for the City Cab Company of Detroit, he loved his cab. He was a faithful member of the New Greater Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Eddie J. Patterson.

He met and married Ethel Lee, who preceded him in death and raised eleven children. He was a great father and provider. He later met and married Eva, the love of his life, and shortly afterwards moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee where he enjoyed life to the fullest, feeling well or not. He was truly a family man. He joined First Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus Richard W. Gordon and present leadership, Pastor James M. McCarroll, Jr. He attended faithfully until his health declined.

Many would describe Jimmie as a quiet man, but he was quite comical and would have you in stiches with his subtle humor.

Jimmie departed this life on Friday, September 12, 2014 at Veterans Hospital, Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Eva Woodson, four daughters, Shirley of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Elnora Foster of Jacksonville, Florida, Ruthie of Detroit, Michigan, and Genetta of Newark, Delaware; three sons, Don, Howard, and Peppy of Detroit, Michigan; one sister-in-law, Lillie Hill of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; 39 grandchildren, 73 great grandchildren and 31 great great grandchildren; his special granddaughter/ his baby girl, Michelle Easley and special grandson, Eldery Thomas, lovely called Weegey; and a host of nieces, nephews and special nephew, Kevin Woodson; extended family and friends.
