State Street, Murfreesboro, TN Obituary: Cleo Bingham Jr. was born April 30, 1949 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to Cleo Bingham Sr. and Pauline Haynes Bingham. He was the youngest sibling out of three. His parents, one sibling, Pauline A. Gaines, and nephew, Michael A. Bingham preceded him in death. At an early age, Cleo accepted Christ and was a believer all his life.
In 1967 Cleo graduated from Holloway High School. He was recruited as a Starting Center by Alcorn State University and during that time Alcorn won the SWAC championship. Cleo graduated in 1972 with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. After graduation, he moved to Washington D.C. to work for the Financial Division of General Motors.
On December 18,1971 Cleo married his college sweetheart, Margarett Louise Allen, and to this union one child was born.
Many described Cleo as a gregarious spirit because he never met a stranger. Through his generous nature, he volunteered his time at the Nashville Rescue Mission until his death. He was passionate about sports, the outdoors, and visiting with his friends and family.
God so graciously called Cleo home on Monday, July 7, 2014.
He is survived by his four loving children, Michelle Bingham of Jackson, Mississippi, Lisa Bingham - Crowley of Nashville, Tennessee, Kemmick (Tara) Idom of Orlando, Florida, and Tosha McGill of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; his adored grandchildren, Devin, Ja'Niel, Brayden (Bingham), Kandyce, Knadia, Kamika, Kori, and Kharis (Idom) and Jada (McGill); his beloved sister, Mattie Lee Oden of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; aunts, Dana Veals, Mary Veals, and Cornell Bingham of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Ethel Bingham of Columbia, South Carolina, Hattie Bell Bingham of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Dorothy Smith-Bingham of Hernando, Mississippi; uncles, George Knight and Floyd Veals of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. |
