Jessie Baxter Jackson was the fourth child born to the late Luther and Edith Curry Jackson on March 16, 1929 in Elkhart, Indiana. He attended the Elkhart Public School and served in the United States Army. He served as the EEOC officer for the city of Elkhart and worked for the Postal Service. He retired from the Sanitation Department of the city of Elkhart.

He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church and a charter member of Agape Baptist Church. He was a community activist for many years. He was married to Charlie Mae Jackson who preceded him in death. Jessie was also preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

The last few years of his life were spent in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Jessie leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Mary Ann Taylor and
Veronica Bradley; two sisters, Jewel Jackson and Margo (R9bert) Brown of Elkhart; Eugene (Marjorie) Jackson of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Luther (Delores) Jackson of Savannah, Georgia; and Theodore (Carolyn) Jackson of Powders Springs, Georgia, Stephen (lari) Jackson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, four grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
