Spring Street, Murfreesboro, TN The Service of Committal & Interment: Following The Service on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 Evergreen Cemetery Obituary: Dora M. Martin, the daughter of Alberta and Jake Bigsby was born on February 29, 1936 in Rutherford County, Tennessee. She departed this life on November 28, 2013 in Cowan, Tennessee at age of 77. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie P. Martin, Sr., a son, Frederick Martin, her parents, Jake and Alberta Bigsby, brothers, Jake Jr., Hugh, Frank, and Charles Bigsby.
Dora received her education in Rutherford County Public School System, where she graduated from Holloway High School, class of 1954.
At an early age she united with Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, where she served faithfully. Later Dora obeyed the gospel, and followed her heart to unite with the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of Elder Bobby L. Russell, Sr. She served faithfully until her health failed.
Dora enjoyed and cherished spending time with her family and friends all would gather for fellowship, because she loved cooking, and was one who never met a stranger. Her loving and caring ways towards the need of others will always be remembered. Dora had a great love for her Pastor and his wife. She loved her church family, and would come every Sunday, even when she did not feel very well.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, devoted son, Terrance (Sabrina), Kenny (JoAnn) and Willie P. Martin (Tasha); devoted sister, Edith (David) Edmondson; sister-in-law, Martha Bigsby; grandchildren, Wykia, Minleshia, Cortney, Terrance Jr., Kennedy, Kenyanna, Keisha, and Lakeitha; three great grandchildren; devoted god daughters, Gail Randall, and Wilhelmina Verge; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
When loved ones go ahead of us, it is hard to say good-bye. And in our grief and sorrow, we are tempted to ask why. But they have found the peace and joy, this world could not give, but in God's Heavenly Kingdom, we all can truly live. |
