She left her earthly home on August 21, 2013 at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital with her family at her bedside. She was preceded in death by her husband; siblings; and son.
In 1940 she was baptized by Reverend Willie Alsup and united with Sycamore Grove M.B. Church, Lascassas, Tennessee. She later moved her membership to Bethel M.B. Church under the pastorate of Reverend R.L. Evans. She served on many committees and organizations within the church. Her greatest joy was serving as a doorkeeper. "Mother" loved the Usher board and served for many years with dedication and commitment .
She united in Holy Matrimony to Charlie Burton Wade December 24, 1949.
"Mother" was employed at Middle Tennessee Medical Center for 27 years. She always enjoyed her work, and helping others gave her great joy. Everywhere she went her presence was made known by her smile and friendly conversation to everyone that crossed her path.
"Mother" leaves behind to cherish her memories, two daughters, Jean Jenkins of Atlanta, Georgia and Josie Wade of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Tamala Jenkins of Atlanta, Georgia, Orlando Gaines of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Sonya (Jarrod) Johnson of Antioch, Tennessee, Joey Jenkins of Atlanta, Georgia; two brothers-in-law, James Simmons of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Chester A. Wade of Nashville, Tennessee; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; special friends, Carolyn Curry, Christine Cowan, Frank Marable, Twana Rodgers, John and Sonja Deloatch. |
