Mr. John Ed Howse, Sr. was born on March 20, 1926 to Maggie Kate and Joseph Howse in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. John was educated in the public school system of Rutherford County. After a recent decline in health, he departed this life on August 18, 2013.

He was inducted into the United States Army on January 2, 1945 and served during World War II until August 17, 1946 when he was honorably discharged.

John received his masonry certification and worked as a brick mason for the Murfreesboro VA Medical Center for 28 years until his retirement in 1988. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, watching old western shows, "The Price is Right," polishing green coke bottles, and reading the Bible.

John met and married Elmira Johnson on January 5, 1948; to this union seven children were born.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Maggie (Momma Kate); father, Joseph; brothers, Joe Henry and Albert Howse; sister, Everlena Reece; son, Michael Howse, Sr.; and grandchildren, Donnie and Brandon Howse; numerous in-laws, and other relatives.

John leaves to cherish his memory loving wife, Elmira; children, Evelyn, John Jr., Cathy, Thomas, William and Karen; siblings Marybelle Dunston, Gladys (Jesse) Brown, Lennard (Iveory), Richard and William Howard Howse; aunt, Matilda Bond; sister- in-law, Louiza Johnson; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Howse; grandchildren, John III (Robin), Tina, Michael Jr. (Dollie), Gregory Simpson, Kavindra (Anthony) White, Katria, Thomas Jr., Eric, Lonnie (Amanda), Valencia (Jose') Gonzalez, Jamesa, Tomechia and Edrick (Selina) Thomas; great grandchildren, Devin, Collinthia, Khalil, Kaleb, Seth, Elijah, Ta'jae, Lonnie Jr., Donnie, La'Vontez, La'Donevin, La'Michael, Zacharius, Kaiden Howse, Xavier Williams, Jose' Gonzalez Jr., Athena Salazar, Elizabeth Weiss, and Zachary White; close extended family, Margaret Ann and Bessie Jean Howse, Maggie Johnson, Chris and Anthony Scruggs; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
