Obituary:
After a life span of eighty years, John T. Howse, Sr. lost his earthly battle and went home to touch the face of God on October 29, 2009 at the Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro, TN.

The son of the late Nick and Mattie Howse, he was born on October 27, 1929 in Rutherford County, TN. Eight siblings preceded him in death: Janie Mae Howse, William Howse, Mary Frances Howse Jackson, Josephine Howse Jones, Mattie Sue Howse Brown, James Odem Howse, G. W. Howse and Ernest Howse.

At an early age, Reverend Howse united with the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Smyrna, TN, where he served as a choir member, deacon and Sunday School teacher, until called into the ministry. Reverend Howse pastored four congregations during his forty year ministry. He was educated in Rutherford County and attended the American Baptist Theological Seminary in Nashville, TN.

He was married to the late Johnnie R. Howse for forty-eight years. Rev. Howse is survived by his daughter, Debra Howse Brown; sons, John "Bud" (Shelia) Howse, Jr., Gerry (Peggy) Howse, Phillip (Lavena) Howse and Duncan (Anita) Howse; 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brothers Walter Howse and Nick Howse; a host of nieces and nephews; life long friend, Marshall Smith and many other relatives and friends.

Reverend Howse will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Mrs. Johnnie R. Howse in the Mapleview Cemetery in Smyrna, Tennessee.
