McCarroll, Jr., Eulogist Interment: following the service on Saturday, March 9, 2013 Evergreen Cemetery Obituary: Musie Jane Thompson was the fourth of ten children born to the late Robert Lee and Martha Jane Smith on February 24, 1922 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She made her transition from this earthly life to eternal life on March 1, 2013. She received her education in the Rutherford and Davidson County School Systems. She went on to attend and graduate from Cosmetology School at A&I State University and was a Beautician for 71 years.
Musie became a Christian at an early age at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Barfield, Tennessee and later joined First Baptist Church. She was a faithful and dedicated member until illness prevented her regular attendance.
To her family she was kind, faithful, loving, and one who strived to make each one happy.
Musie was united in holy matrimony on March 21, 1942 to the late Jordan Thompson, and to this union five daughters were born, Melbra, Robbie, Arnita, Cathy, and Emma, of which, Cathy Ann Thompson and Emma Juanita Benford, preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are two grandsons, Joe Kirkland Turner and Jamar Kenzell Williams; and one great granddaughter, Kasana L. Tally.
She leaves to cherish her memories three devoted daughters, Melbra Thompson Simmons, Robbie Mai (Charles) Ferguson, both of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Martha Arnita (Bennie) Lee of Nashville, Tennessee; step son, Arthur Lorenzo (Maydine) Thompson of Detroit, Michigan; son-in-law, Melvin Benford of Louisville, Kentucky; fifteen grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; twenty-nine great -great grandchildren; three devoted sisters, Mary Belle (Gilbert) Ward of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Martha Ella Womack and Eula Webb, both of Nashville, Tennessee; devoted nephew, George Thompson of Chicago, Illinois; two devoted nieces, Cheryl Womack and Starletha Gaines; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and devoted friends. |
