Sheikh Teejan Faye, Sr. "Daddy" was born February 19, 1948 to the late Alhaji Sheikh Tijan Faye, Aji Ramatoulie Tombedou Faye in Banjul, The Gambia, West Africa. He peacefully departed this life on Monday, February 11, 2013 at his home. He was preceded in death by a son, Abdou Wahid Faye and a sister, Ndey Astou Faye.

Sheikh was married to his best friend and devoted wife, Euleda (Missy) Faye for over 30 years.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory six devoted daughters, Aminata (Bashiru), Saffiatou (Abdoulie "Star"), Abie (Bashiru), Ramatoulie (Morr), Isha, and Bintou Ann; four sons, Momodou Lamin (Mady), Alagie Teejan, Darius, and Sheikh, Jr.; three sisters, Ndey Binta, Fatou Mbenga, and Oumie; five brothers, Mustapha (Seynadou), Bye Ebrima (Majigen), Imam Muntaha (Mariam, Bintou, Ina), Sheikh Omar (Marie, Fatou), and Sulayman; sisters-in-law, Donna Warren (John), Emily Henry (Billy), Denese Artis (Larry), Eugenia Knight, Devora Butler (Bill), and Eltravisa Butler; brother-in-law Reverend James L. Butler, Jr. (Monica); father-in-law, James L. Butler, Sr. (Dolores, deceased); 13 grandchildren; an aunt and three uncles; devoted friends, Ronald Washington and Robert "Bobby" Scales, Jr., and numerous other friends and relatives.

-All American Track & Field Honors - 1976, 1977 & 1978

-Two Time Olympian - 1972 & 1976

-Inducted into the Track & Field Hall of Fame - 2009

-Ohio Valley Conference Highest Honors - 1977 & 1978

-Outstanding Sports Personality Of The Year - 2011

by the Gambian National Olympic Committee - GNOC

-Served on the Banjul Gambian National Sports Council - 2010 - 2012

-TSSAA Soccer Referee

-Assisted in forming the Murfreesboro Soccer League

-The Gambian Sportsman Of The Millennium

-Retired from Nissan Motor Manufacturing Corporation

-Because of his significant contributions, the Murfreesboro Alumni Chapter Brotherhood Award was Renamed The Sheikh Faye Brotherhood Award.

-Sheikh enjoyed life to the fullest: Family, Sports, Music, Dancing, and Frying Fish. He loved to "Burn" the grill. He will be dearly missed.
