Obituary:
Mary Dean Smith - Vaughter was born in Rutherford County on January 7, 1926 to the late Mr. Dee Witt Smith and Mrs. Alice Smith - Smith. She departed this life January 7, 2013 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.

Mary attended Bradley School and Holloway High School. She was employed as a housekeeper for many years.

She became a Christian at an early age and was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She was an active member and served faithfully on the Usher Board and Hospitality committee, until her health began to fail.

Mary had many loves and hobbies, some of which were watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Titans, along with going to baseball games at Samsonite Park. She also enjoyed working in her garden and flower bed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert W. Vaughter; brother, Charlie B. Smith; sister-in-law, Gladys Smith; and brother-in-law, James Vaughter.

Mary leaves to mourn her passing a devoted daughter, Ms. Bonnie Dean Vaughter; a very devoted grandson, Deron T. Vaughter (Kim); devoted brother, James K. Smith Sr., six nephews, of which one was very devoted to her, James K. Smith (Cynthia); five nieces; a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends; sister-in-law, Dorathea Smith of Toledo, Ohio; and very devoted friends, Henrietta Gaines and Lillian King.
