Kenneth Edward James, Sr., was born December 31, 1949 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Bernice James Brothers. On August 7, 2012 our merciful savior dispatched his angels to take Kenneth home to rest with family members he so longed to see again. Also preceding him in death was his son, Kenneth James, Jr.

He graduated from the Norfork school system and was deemed a genius. Shortly after graduating, Kenneth left Virginia to join the United States Army and served two tours in Vietnam. Kenneth settled in Tennessee where he met and married Gale Hunter James. This union brought forth the family he so loved.

Kenneth leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 35 years Gale James; son, Corey Coleman; daughter, Georgia Crawford (fiancé, Richard Brown), twins, Clifton James and Karen James (fiancé, Maurice Sweet); grandchildren, Richard, Roshawanda Brown Mitchell, Shakara, Tyrek, Kentrall, Lyons, Keleth, Kamauree Sweet, Makala James and Cobe James; brother, Ronald Brothers of Norfolk, VA; sister, Beverly (Randy) Terry of Alexandria, VA and Brenda (Tony) Lawrence of Virginia Beach, VA; two loving nieces, Benita Robertson and Breyhanna Lawerence; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Kenneth adored his grandchildren, and his last wishes were to influence them to seek God, and pursue their education.
