Vincent Windrow, Eulogist Obituary: Eva "Sugarchild" Gooch departed this life on July 16, 2011 at Middle TN Medical Center. She was born June 11, 1950 in Rutherford County to the late Jodie Miles Sr. and Eva Etta Miles. She was preceded in death by her son, Sam Brown, Jr.; four brothers, James, Jimmy, Walter and Jodie Miles Jr.; and one sister, Mary Louise Mentlow.
Eva united with the Grace Baptist Church in Smyrna, TN as a young adult. She later served in the choir at Elders Chapel United Methodist Church and Silver Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Eva was educated in the Rutherford County School System. She took pride in presenting a spotless home,spending time with her family and friends,browsing yard sales, shopping and decorating in her free time.
Eva was employed by Samsonite Furniture in Murfreesboro and also worked as a personal caretaker and in house keeping for area Nursing Homes. She was married to Sam A. Brown and to this union three children were born.
She leaves to cherish her memories, husband, Al Terry Gooch; 2 daughters, Lisa (Phillip) Carter and Margaret (Willie) Daniel; loving grandchildren, Andrew, Brittany and Samuel Bass, D'Andre and Sha'Daziah Carter; precious great grandchild, Anissa Bass; 3 brothers, Tommy (Nancy), Raymond and Melvin Miles; 6 sisters, Ellen Preston, Annie Cliff, Maggie Hathaway, Allie Sue Martin, Fannie (William) Lewis and Willie (William) Robinson; mother-in-law, Peggy Gooch; sisters-in-law, Lucille Miles, Dorothy (Nate) Sanders,Carol, Barbara Ann, Sarah and Mary Gooch; brothers-in-law, James, Charles, Timmy and Jimmy Gooch and a host of other relatives and friends. Very devoted friends, Gloridean Howse, Dorothy Malone and Jimmy Randolph.
